I can't recall JGB ever doing Comes a Time.

Gonna check out that '85 version, though...I saw a ton of shows in '85 but generally regard it as a pretty poor year for the band and Jerry in particular.

I probably have a Warfield show mixed up for JGB.

And I wouldn't say that 85 is better than 77, esp May-June!, just some variety of the wine might age for different flavor.

indeed, if there's one complaint I have about '77 (and it's a small complaint) it's that there's not a whole lot of variety set-list wise.

They were a bit more adventerous in '85 (Walkin the Dog, Big Boss Man pop up every now and then)...but overall, tough to stack up the wheezing, about-to-go-coma '85 Jerry against his '77 counterpart.

*Not a bad version, esp. for '85...what Jer lacks in vocal power he makes up for in effort...you can tell he's really into it...also, I was not aware of this show overall...VERY cool set list...Dew up top to start 2nd set...I also like the China Doll and Smokestack heading into Comes a Time. Thanks! for the recommendation*

It's a good little set. I liked the band's sound and harmonious performances quite a bit after an encounter with the show on tape at Mt Shasta. I like the smaller things too, like the balaphon, the space, and touches like the echo added at "before I hit the ground" in China Doll.

Part of me couldn't understand why good but not elite performances like this didn't prove GD was good. Another of part of me was glad though because getting tickets could be nerve wracking, even as so many people hated them!

I think I have decided that for me 85, 89, 90 is better than 77, on the whole. That's odd but then I still prefer '68-75. Me, me, me, I tweet.

Go to yours, you crackling hen.
